David has been playing the accordion since he was 5 years old and was first taught at the Paisley Academy of Music by Brian Laurie.
He entered his first classical competition in Perth at the age of 7 where he took 1st place and since then has went on to win over 60 trophies, including 3 United Kingdom Championships.
Over the last few years David has changed music teacher and accordion. He is now taught by Djordje Gajic, a former World Champion, and now plays a free bass classical accordion. Since this switch David has continued to be successful in competitions, gaining runner-up in the United Kingdom Virtuoso Championship and qualifying for the CMA Trophée Mondial (World Championships).
